Book Talk with R and T: Let's Talk About Pen Pals

Tamara and I have been having a great week chatting about THE READERS OF BROKEN WHEEL RECOMMEND. We shared our opinions here and here, interviewed author Katrina Bivald, and debated book covers. We've been tweeting non-stop and our giveaway runs through the weekend.

Today I wanted to know if anyone had pen pals growing up? I had one that I think I got out of the back of Teen magazine and we wrote maybe 4 letters to each other. I loved getting mail and thought it was so cool to "talk" to someone I didn't know. Now with social media, I do that everyday. Maybe that's why I like Twitter so much. It's pen pals 2.0! Did you have a pen pal? How did your correspondence begin? How long did you stay in touch? Did you ever met in person?

Don't forget to enter to win your own copy of this great book about books!!

I had LOADS of penpals growing up and I loved it! Sadly, I've lost touch with, well, all of them. Sigh! My daughter, who is almost 7, has a friend who moved away that she writes to and, when she turns 8, I told her I'd "order" some international pen pals for her through a company that I used as a kid and is still in operation!

That's pretty cool. I bet she could turn those international pen pals into some cool Show-and-Tell projects!!

I had an international pen pal. I think I got her through a program at school and I don't even remember what country she lived in. I was never a good letter writer. It felt like a chore and I would procrastinate something terrible. Twitter, etc is much better for me!

I used to love getting the letters, not so much the writing them. I felt like it was a chore, too. Twitter is pretty fab for connecting w everyone across the globe!
